The Sariska Palace had a fantastic location, and was our base for the first week of
the tour. However It was a very long hot trip by road from the Airport.
This trip is no longer available with the Travel Collection
The palace is 200 km from Delhi, 110 km from Jaipur and 205 km from Agra. Sariska Palace
was formely a royal residence and was used as a royal hunting lodge. The palace is situated on the edge of Sariska National
Park and was built by the Maharaja of Alwar, for the visit of Queen Victoria`s son, the Duke of Connaught. Its architecture
is an amalagamation of French, regal, with eastern detailing and is now a Heritage Hotel. The interior is not opulent
but it does have some Louis XIV and Art Deco furniture, along with wicker chairs and Victoriana. This 80 room hotel
offers standard rooms to deluxe suites, all have ensuite bathrooms, with modern amenities in gracious, old world
ambience, Palace lawns , a restaurant housing trophies and antique furniture. There is also Jeep safaris to the
adjoining wildlife sanctuary.
This was another Brilliant Holiday, but we had a very long trip to Ranthamore
National Park to find the Tigers. but well worth it when we actually got to see a Tiger in its own habitat
.
There are "No Tigers left at Sariska Palace"
